一番星画廊では10 月25 日（土）よりヴァン・ド・ヴェルド道子の個展「記憶の余韻」を開催致します。
日本での個展は2024 年「木漏れ日」以来2 度目になります。

ブリュッセルを拠点とするヴァン・ド・ヴェルド道子の創作活動は、油絵を始めた7 歳頃から続く、陽光と時間の経過への深い観察を中心に展開しています。油彩、版画、サイトスペシフィックなインスタレーションなど、多様な媒体を通じ、光と記憶の儚い瞬間を視覚体験へと昇華させます。ベルギーと日本という二つの文化的故郷を行き来する旅が、しばしば作品の源泉となっています。

2025 年、道子はベルギーで自身初のパブリックアートプロジェクトを完成させました。ユネスコ世界遺産であるトゥルネー大聖堂の影と対話する、記念碑的なサイトスペシフィック・インスタレーションです。夏至に公開されたこの作品は、光と影のリズムと共鳴しながら、静かに街並みに溶け込んでいます。

今回の展覧会、「記憶の余韻」では新作が展示されます。展示作品のひとつ「最上紅花畑」は山形県河北町の風景が描かれており、現地でのスケッチと記憶を頼りにブリュッセルのアトリエで制作されたものです。
ヴァン・ド・ヴェルド道子が描く作品はどれも、自然や光との個人的な出会いに根ざしながらも、観るものそれぞれの記憶と懐かしさという普遍的な感覚に共鳴し、時間の儚いや美しさについて観る者に思索を促します。是非、ご高覧ください。

We are pleased to announce the solo exhibition “Kioku no Yoin” (Lingering Memory) by Michiko Van de Velde, opening on October 25, 2025, at Ichibanboshi Gallery. This marks Michiko’s second solo exhibition in Japan, following “Komorebi” in 2024. 

Based in Brussels, Michiko Van de Velde’s practice revolves around her deep observation of sunlight and the passage of time　— a fascination that began when she first started oil painting at the age of seven. Through a diverse range of media including oil painting, printmaking, and site-specific installation, she transforms fleeting moments of light and memory into visual experiences. Her works are often inspired by her travels between Belgium and Japan, her two cultural homelands. 

In 2025, Michiko completed her first public art project in Belgium: a monumental site-specific installation that interacts with the shadow of Tournai Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The work, unveiled on the summer solstice, quietly merges with the cityscape, engaging with the rhythm of light and shadow.

For “Kioku no Yoin”,  new works will be presented. Among them, “Safflower Fields” depicts a scene from Kahoku-cho, Yamagata Prefecture, painted in her Brussels studio based on on-site sketches and recollections. While rooted in her personal encounters with nature and light, Michiko’s works resonate with a shared sense of memory and nostalgia, inviting viewers to reflect on the fragile beauty of time.
